Bishnui,
Hindu herding caste of western India, followers of twenty-nine (bishnui) sacred precepts. They are vegetarians and are noted for their care of wildlife.

Block,
A group of 2 or more threads which form a unit in a weave.

Block printing,
Method of printing a pattern on cloth (with a resist or mordant) before dyeing using a block, usually of carved wood, or with a raised design of metal strips or pins. Sometimes a thickened dye is directly printed.

Block Printing,
Decoration of a fabric by means of a carved wooden block dipped in dye. A hand printing process where cloth or paper is printed on using wooden blocks. First a design is either carved into a wooden block or a raised design is created using metal strips and pins. The raised area of the block is coated with ink, dye, bleach, mordant or other material, the block is then pressed onto the surface of cloth or paper to create patterns.  

Blotting Cardboard,

Blowing,
Blowing normally refers to glass blowing, a process by which glass is formed by blowing a glass bubble on the end of a hollow tube. This bubble is either shaped by spinning, rolling, pinching it with the help of tools till it takes the appropriate shape or it can be placed inside a hollow mould and blown till it expands into all the details, crevices of the mould.

Bobbin,
An article, usually a small rod, around which the weft thread is wound for insertion into the warp during weaving. Also a small pin of wood, with a notch, used in lace-making. Spool for a boat shuttle, on which weft thread is wound.

Bobbin lace,
Interlaced fabric made by manipulating groups of many separate threads by means of attached bobbins. The work is usually done on a pillow, hence the alternative term, pillow lace.

Bobbin Winder,
A tool for winding bobbins or spools either by hand or electric power.

Bobbin Winding,
In the hand loom weaving process yarn in the hank form is wound on bobbins. This is the first step in transforming the yarn from the hank form to a linear form. Dyed hank yarn is wound on bobbins with the help of Charkhas. This process enables the laying out of yarn lengths for weaving. Bobbin winding is done by women in the weaver households.

Body-tension loom,
A two-bar frameless loom with a backstrap, belt or wooden yoke passing around the weaver’s back and secured to the breast-beam. The leaning forwards or backwards against the strap, while at the other end of the warp, another beam, known as the warp-beam, is held secure. It is also known as a back-tension loom or a body tension loom.
